Sea Bird Medicare and LEDGID Join Forces to Advance Digital Health Portability for Seafarers
Limassol, Cyprus – September 2026
LEDGID and Sea Bird Medical, India, have entered into a collaboration to explore how maritime medical information and related services can become more portable, interoperable and accessible to seafarers throughout their careers.
As an Early Adopter, Sea Bird Medicare will work with LEDGID on a Proof of Concept focused on healthcare interoperability, medical profile portability and structured technical integration across the maritime sector. The collaboration will also explore the provision of medical and welfare-related services through the LEDGID ecosystem.
The work will be undertaken within a framework that preserves clear data safeguards. No ownership of data is transferred, and personal data may only be shared where an appropriate lawful basis and explicit consent apply.
Henning Davies, CEO of LEDGID, said:
“A seafarer’s medical information is an important part of their professional journey, but today it can remain fragmented across providers, employers and different stages of a career. Our work with Sea Bird Medicare Centre is about exploring how that information can become more portable and useful to the individual, while maintaining the necessary safeguards around privacy, consent and medical data.”
The initial phase will focus on technical discovery, defining the Proof of Concept scope and agreeing activation priorities and timelines.
